We make the steel wire rope specialized for elevators. In general, the elevator wire rope is available with the specifications of 8*19S-FC-8mm and 8*19S-10mm. And 8*19S-10mm is much more frequently used. For the elevators in the shopping malls, we provide the wire ropes with the diameter of 12mm, 13mm, or 16mm.
Manufacturing Techniquea. Double steel grades.
The steel wire rope could be made with #65 and #45 steels. The tensile strength are 1370N/mm2 and 1570N/mm2.
b. Single steel grade
Also, it can apply only one steel grade such as #65 steel. The breaking force is 1770N/mm2.
In any case, the wire rope should be pretension treated to improve the compactness while controlling the elongation.
c. The steel cable dedicated for elevators uses natural fibre core (NF) or synthetic fibre core (PP). The natural fibre core must be sisal hemp which can well maintain the rope structure and excellent mechanical properties. PP core allows for the uniform diameter of the wire rope. Especially, it is the optimal choice for high speed elevators.
Although the elevator steel wire rope occupies a small cost ratio, it is a indispensable part, also a consumable part in the elevator industry. In other word, how to choose a good wire rope is of vital importance. The factors below should be taken into account when choosing.
a. Structure
First of all, you need to take the wire rope structure into consideration. Generally, the steel wire rope has better flexibility but lower abrasion proof performance, if it has more steel wires per strand. Thus far, a elevator wire rope has 6 or 8 wire strands. You can choose according to the actual requirements.
b. Tensile Strength
The wire rope is available with different tensile strength for different elevator design. The tensile strength is proportional to the minimum breaking force. Higher strength means higher security. Theoretically, a wire rope with higher tensile strength is lower in fracture toughness. However, a special technology has been developed to effectively solve this problem. That is why a small diameter wire rope comes with higher strength and breaking force.
c. Rope Core
Currently, the elevator wire rope chooses hemp core, especially natural sisal hemp core. PP core also belongs to hemp core. Recent years, the steel cored wire rope is popularized for elevators. A steel wire rope with hemp core has better flexibility, while a steel cored wire rope is more stable in structure. Additionally, the steel cored wire rope has higher breaking force.
